What About STDs?STDs are Sexually Transmitted Diseases. This page does not cover all STDs. Information presented pertains to gonorrhea (gon-or-e-uh), syphilis (siff-eh-lis) and NGU (non-specific urethritis). How are these STDs spread? These STDS are spread through sexual activity--like fucking, getting fucked and some during oral sex. What are they? They are all caused by bacteria (germs). NGU can be chlamydia or another bacteria and may be passed during oral sex. What should guys look for?If you're sexually active, you should get tested every 6 months--you can have any of these and have no symptoms! But, if there are symptoms, look for:
With syphilis, you may get a painless sore on your dick, mouth or butt hole (or up your ass). You may also have swollen glands in your groin. Later on, as the disease progresses, the sore may go away BUT YOU STILL HAVE THE DISEASE. Without treatment you may get skin rashes that go away, BUT YOU STILL HAVE THE DISEASE. Syphilis does not go away by itself. It can eventually cause brain damage, heart disease and other long-term health problems. It is easy to get and easy to get rid of (a penicillin shot will do it)! What tests should I get?Well, that depends on what kind of fun you've been having, buddy! For gonorrhea and chlamydia, there are throat and ass swab, & urine tests. For syphilis, there's a blood test. And while you're at it, there are oral and blood tests for HIV. And a professional visual exam of your mouth, butt and groin is a good idea. Also ask about vaccines for Hepatitis A & B. Where do I get tested and treated?Get tested and treated by: 1. Going to your doctor Not in SF? Most large towns have services like SF's City Clinic. Consult your local health department. Warning: HIV is also an STD! All STDs are spread by having less-than-safe sex. When you get infected with an STD, you could at the same time be getting HIV. Remember, HIV is spread through bodily fluids which include fluids from sores like syphilis and herpes! This page is © 2002 Buddies Private Clubs and is provided by BUDDIES as a public service.
